Sony will announce and release a PlayStation 5 Pro device this year, and a new State of Play broadcast where it could be announced is on tap for September, according to reporter Jeff Grubb of GameSpot sister site Giant Bomb.Speaking on the Game Mess Mornings show, Grubb reacted to the report that the PS5 Pro was apparently an open secret at Gamescom recently, as developers prepared games for it. Grubb said, “The last I heard, this thing [the PS5 Pro] is still coming out this year. More recently, what I’ve heard is there is probably going to be a State of Play, not a Showcase, by the end of September.”Grubb said he wasn’t sure if the rumored PS5 Pro will be announced at this potential event but said it’s a possibility. The system could then go on sale in October or November, Grubb said, going on to estimate that it might cost $600 or even potentially $700.A mid-generation Xbox Series X refresh is also rumored, but there isn’t much to go on.
